2014 Summer Highlight! LUNA, NM Rodeo!

We did have a few amazing days with some pretty awesome friends!  The Rocko's go up to the Luna, NM Rodeo each July.  It was founded by a group of Mormons years back, to celebrate the 24th of July....or Pioneer Day.
The picture above is one of my favorites!  Holdyn just chillin on Big John watching the other Barrel racers.  She pulled up right next to us in the bleachers.  Also, the little boy in the background totally looks like he is smiling down on her.  I just love my little cowgirl to pieces!

Cody loves the Rocko boys.  He follows Jake everywhere and Jake spoils him rotten and only teaches him a few bad habits.  Here they are playing with Miska. A little Husky.
We camped just by the Rodeo arena so we were close for all of the events.
The setting was really beautiful! Holdyn was on Big John every chance she got!

They did an egg toss and Holdyn ran out there with a little boy we were sitting by.  They ended up standing next to each other and not across from each other, so they didn't get an egg, but they had fun running out into the arena :)
Holdyn with her birthday hat from Bonnie.
 On Big Jon again.
Kimber was a champ and did her vest outside while we were all running around.

 That's my handsome cowboy!

Bonnie and Nic got third in the open and Holdyn got second in her age group.
She didn't hear her name over the intercom, but we all did and started cheering so loud.  She was so surprised and knew she was the bomb dot com!
The girls loving on Big Jon.
 Jake roping the kiddo's.
 Kimber on Nick
Cody driving the remote controlled car.  Just after this picture he found a huge pile of sand to play in.....a few moments after that we heard a piercing scream from him.  He was in a huge ant pile and covered in ants!  Poor kid had bites all over him!  I found him and totally panicked! I pulled off his shirt in time for Bonnie to come around the corner and rip his pants and diaper off.  Poor baby!  He was pretty miserable the rest of the night.  Luckily, it cleared up and he was able to get a good nights sleep.
Jake showing off...Nick doesn't look amused.
Holdyn took advantage of the empty arena after the rodeo.
Kimber hung out on the fence and watched her ride until we dragged them back to dinner.
Here is our camp.  We love our little trailer :)
Holdyn still loving on Big Jon.
 The Dogs enjoyed themselves too.
Both girls sporting their hats from Bonnie.
She really is the best!

going to get the horses some water.

There was a MAJOR downpour just before we were going to pull out.  We had some major mud....the kids loved it!  The horse trailer sank deep and the men had to use their muscle and ingenuity to get it up and hooked up to the truck.  Didn't take them too long.
We really enjoyed every minute that weekend!
Such great memories!

Here are a few pictures I just threw in :)

Holdyn's new Hobby....thanks to Bonnie Rocko! (And I sincerely mean that)

Here Is Holdyn, Ready to go to her first barrel race with the Rocko's.
She went over to their house earlier in the day to help wash the horses and brush their tails and manes. She has a deep love for horses and riding!  Especially Big Jon! They are a great team.

Before the races began she was riding around with all of the cowgirls.
She LOVES hanging out with Bonnie at the races.

Kimber didn't love the wait, so she found the I pod and turned up some tunes.
Warming up and cooling down the horses with Bonnie.

 Cody Chillin in the shade.
Holdyn and Bonnie getting ready for the race!

She did GREAT and had so much fun!  Her first time was 42 seconds.
Her next run was half of that! (Second race picture is her in the orange/pink shirt) She is learning and improving like crazy!

Some random catch ups

For those of you thinking this huge mug is filled with Diet Coke.....You are WRONG!  This time it actually had water in it ;)
Kimber had been asking for a little dog for a LOOONG time.  It was all she wanted for her birthday.  But we told her we couldn't in the house we were in the rental only allowed one dog and we already have Millie.   So as soon as we moved she was all over us to get her the little dog. Just a day or two after returning home from her surgery in Albuquerque, her want for a dog was greater than ever.  We kept watching on Craigslist and some other sites for little dogs.  One evening I stumbled on an ad for this free dog in Silver City.  The people who had him had found him a few weeks prior just off the highway. They said he was potty trained, well behaved, and they had put up signs for the 'found' dog and even advertised him on the radio, but nobody claimed him.  They already had a houseful of 5 dogs so they didn't want to keep him.  We drove right over and picked him up.  He has a few quirks (attacks the blinds if we leave him alone without putting him in the Kennel) and he barks...at men.  But other than that he really has been perfect for Kimber. He really misses her now that she is in school all day.  He follows her everywhere, sleeps near her, lays with her while she does her vest...he has overall been great for her.  He is very protective, especially of Kimber.
We can't cook on the grill enough.  Here is Holdyn having Cheeto's with a side of Hotdog :)
HMS (Hidalgo Medical Services) hosted this free kids day at the park.
They had a lot of fun things for the kids to do to stay active.
This Big box lasted a couple of weeks and helped time pass as they played in it and decorated it.

Holdyn LOVED the dunk tank and Kimber LOVED dunking her :)

Silver City does have some fun-family events throughout the year.
