Easter Sunday 2013

Ben was back to work at 5am this morning.  So the kids and I did our best to get some good Easter Sunday Photo's.  As you can see, every party has a pooper :)

As soon as Kimber didn't have to share the spotlight she was all smiles :)
 Cute Miss Holdyn!
The Codester!  He wouldn't smile without a ball or frisbee...so this is what we got :)

I am thankful for the Atonement and Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ!  I pray I can be the example for my kids so they an learn the importance of this blessed day that our Savior provided for us through His life and Death and Resurrection!
I am thankful for the knowledge of His restored Gospel!

Easter Egging 2013

Nothing like waking up at 7 on a Saturday Morning to three synchronized alarm clocks named Holdyn, Kimber and Cody :)
Luckily, the Easter Bunny had everything taken care of the night before so we just got up, got dressed and started the fun!  The girls were so cute helping Cody!  I also had to get a shot of the Hot Air Balloon in the background...we usually get 4 or 5 that float right over us...close enough to talk to the people a few mornings a week.  They like to land at the golf course just behind our house.  Definitely something we will miss!

SOOO happy Ben was able to switch shifts and be able to be around for the egg hunts. Some of those eggs got pretty high in the tree!
First hunt over and eggs counted!  The girls were off to a roaring start with a quick break to do Kimber's treatment! So thankful for modern medicine and therapies that are keeping our little superstar so healthy! She puts up with a LOT!  She swallows pills better than anyone I know!
We then hit the park for the Ward Easter hunt.  It was a huge success too!
Holdyn looks so small in the above picture (Bright pink shirt)....she got to hunt with the Sr. Primary kids.
Kimber had some help from dad in the Jr. Primary section.
Holdyn had some serious speed to get up to those eggs :)
Good thing she saved some of that energy for the Color Mob run later that day!
Love these little kiddo's!

Color Mob 5k

Me, Susan, Hannah, and Melanie at the starting line!

Back in January a friend from church got me to sign up for this 5k.  I am SO glad I did!
Holdyn has been so excited to do it with me!  Kimber really wanted to come too, but the puffs of paint were bad enough on my lungs....let alone the lungs of a little CFer!  So she had to stay home...but Daddy got to spend some quality time with her and Cody so it all worked out!
These are our BEFORE pictures!

Holdyn's Friend Grace was there to run too!
Here is My Holdy-locks just after the Blue and Yellow paint stations!
She had a blast!
Here I am dragging Holdyn through the pink....she said she closed her eyes through the whole thing...lol...that would explain why I had to practically pull her through!

 SOOOOOOO FUN!
We finished strong and did MUCH better than I thought we would!
I haven't done a 5k or ANY running in years...so it was super fun to do it with my fun little buddy Holdyn!

I Love my Lil' Kickers!!!

The girls are LOVING Soccer!  It is so fun to watch them practice skills, and play games and relay races!  They both do great and are about the fastest ones in their groups!  I need to get some better action photo's, but it is hard to catch a good photo through the glass :)
Cody and I love going to watch and cheer on our Lil' Kickers!

Balloon Museum Spring Break Fun!

The kids and I spent a great day at the Balloon Fiesta Park Museum.
During Spring Break they had a family day and if you got there early, you could get in free.
YEP, we were one of the first ones there :)
They had all sorts of fun activities teaching kids about the Hot Air Balloons and how they fly.
They had story time and some songs...the girls LOVED it!
They had fun arts and crafts for the kids to do and they blew up a few big balloons for the kids to see up close.

This is an acting dog that does a lot of commercials and appears in TV shows quite often.
He was great!  The girls kept going back to visit with him!

Fun air balloon baskets for the kids to climb in and pretend they were going up in the balloon!
We met up with some friends and Ava Miller joined up for some of the pictures!  They also had a huge grass field they were letting people fly kites.  We brought ours and I was super excited to have a "Mary Poppins" Kite experience with hundreds of other kites....but sad for us, there was NO wind while we were there :)  The kids took turns running with their kites to get them up for a minute...so we still had fun!

Alamogordo, NM

I took so long to post these pictures I can't even remember much about them!
We had a great few days in Alamogordo, NM.  We visited the oldest Zoo in the Southwest...it was pretty quiet and we really enjoyed it!
We also made it to the Space Museum.  It was VERY cool.  Here is Holdyn balancing a gyro-sphere (I think that is what it is called) as it spins.....and balances on the tip of her pencil.
These pictures are out of whack, but we visited both places on the same day. Above is the kiddo's on a lion at the Zoo.

Ben, Holdyn and Kimber posing at the Space Museum!

We had a great few days with Ben off!  White Sands was AMAZING!  I think the girls' favorite part was the indoor pool at the hotel.  It was really fun to take a little vacation with the family!

One of the main reasons we headed south was that Ben had an interview at the hospital in Silver City, NM.  Since I print this blog yearly this information is mostly for my family records.  Ben originally Matched to the Roswell, NM program in Rural Medicine.  The Rural programs in New Mexico are under UNM and they require the first year of your residency to be at the University of New Mexico Hospital, here in Albuquerque.  On the first day of Ben's orientation, they called the Roswell Residents aside and informed them that the Roswell Program had closed, due to problems with the administration at the hospital.  They reassured us that UNM would help us find another position...not the way we wanted our first few days of Ben's intern year to begin!  The stress began.  UNM quickly fell in love with Ben and his work ethic.  They guaranteed him a position here in the University's program.  (He was also offered positions in Pediatrics and the Surgery department...but his love lies with Rural Family Medicine.)
They continued to search alongside with Ben for programs that were rural, that we might be able to transfer to.  Ben visited the Santa Fe Program....things went great, they were excited to have someone who actually wants to do Rural Medicine!  Unfortunately,  Santa Fe did not have enough patients to support adding another Resident (They were going to make a new spot for Ben, but at the end of the year, their numbers wouldn't support it.) So we had begun to adjust to the fact that we were probably going to be staying here in Albuquerque.  We even started looking for homes to purchase and were getting serious about one when Ben talked to the Program Director at UNM.  She informed him that Silver City is opening up a rural medicine program and they came to UNM and specifically asked for Ben.  We began to toss the idea around.  It was timed just right, because Ben had his annual time off and we were able to go and visit and Ben spent the day with the Directors of the Hospital there.  We LOVED it there!  It is a beautiful little town set in the green of the Gila mountains and rolling hills.  Ben will be the first resident and possibly the only resident there next year and will get all of the attention and procedures he desires!  Last week two of the most influential men (one Dr. and one director) who have been involved with establishing successful Rural medicine programs throughout New Mexico and  Texas invited Ben to have dinner with them and discuss the new program!
Now, we play the waiting game again!  Ben finishes up his first year the end of June and will begin the first of July.  The Silver City program is set to have it's accreditation by the first of June!  We have a letter of intent for Ben to begin working there, BUT, cannot have a signed contract until they have their accreditation.  Things look great and on track, but they just won't have the final contract signed until the first of June, and we will relocate there the end of June/first of July!
Seems like every time we make a plan, Heavenly Father steers us a different way.  It is good to know we are in good hands!  We always feel we are where we are supposed to be, when we are supposed to be there!

White Sands National Monument

We are so lucky to have had this chance to take a little trip as a family!  Ben has one of his vacation weeks this week and we are enjoying every minute!  We came down to Alamogordo, NM yesterday and are having a blast!  Today we went to White Sands National Monument.
As you can see we are all smiles here!

We had so much fun sliding down the dunes on these discs!!
Running back up was fun too!
Here is the WHOLE family :)
It took Cody a few minutes before he realized that he liked the sand, but when he did, he LOVED it!
Kimber and daddy showing their moves!

Holdyn showed no fear as she slid down some of the steep slopes.
 Holdyn had so much fun!
So far we are having a blast!  We came back to the hotel and did some swimming and now little Cody is taking a much deserved nap before heading out for more fun!
